Camp TAM is our hub to high adventure and outdoor exploration! Snuggled in the sub-alpine firs and wildflowers of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Camp TAM is a mountain hide-a-way for Girl Scouts to explore nature, connect to the outdoors and discover their strengths. Girls will confidently face outdoor challenges from adventurous backpacking trips to mastering archery and creating delicious meals over the campfire.

Come and discover the fun of Camp TAM! Master the art of making friendship bracelets, learn camp songs, and cook over a campfire. This week will be filled with making new friends and creating lasting memories. Grab your hiking boots and get ready to explore the outdoors from land, water, and air. Girls will hike and explore on a two-day, one night backpacking trip, spend a day whitewater rafting the Snake River, and reach new heights while on a climbing adventure.

Girls must be comfortable in fast moving and deep water, be able to swim 50 yards without stopping, and carry 30 pounds in a backpack. Girls must be able to hike up to 5 miles.

Spend a week learning new cooking techniques over a campfire and camp stove! Try your hand at preparing different camp cookbook meals, test out a favorite recipe over a campfire, take a tour of the camp kitchen, and see what goes into making meals for the whole camp! End your week with a bakeoff with your bunk mates against the rest of the unit. Grab your backpack, hiking boots and water bottle, and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

Girls will start their week off reviewing backcountry skills, planning and packing before setting off into the wilderness for a three-day, two-night backpacking trip. Girls must be comfortable hiking miles a day and carrying pounds of gear. Girls will learn the basics of photography and will get the chance to explore camp and the Red Ridge trail while capturing the beauty of nature with their cameras.

We recommend girls bring a digital camera if they have one. Council iPads or digital cameras will be available. Do you love horses? Jump in the saddle and learn all about horses! Learn how to facilitate games and lead songs, discover the best tips and tricks on how to mentor younger campers, shadow camp counselors, and leave your mark on Camp Ta-Man-A-Wis with a service project.

We are anticipating sending out the family information packet on the week of April 25, This packet will include all camp paperwork, directions to camp, more information about our program and the emergency telephone number for camp.

Family information packets are sent out via email so please check your MyGS account to ensure you have the correct email listed. Do campers earn Girl Scout badges at camp? All campers will be receiving a special camp patch for their Girl Scout uniform. If campers complete full badges while at camp, they will also be sent home with their completed badges.

Not every session will be completing Girl Scout badgework. All girls are welcome to join any of our camp sessions. When you register for camp, you will also be prompted to complete your Girl Scout membership.

Financial aid is available. My camper has special needs or accommodations, what is the best way to tell camp staff? We want all of our campers to have the most successful week at camp. The more details and information you provide for us, the better we can accommodate your camper. Our Outdoor Program Manager may reach out to families with campers who need accommodations. At school, my camper receives one-on-one support from an aid.

Can an aid or parent attend camp with my camper? If your camper receives support from a one-on-one aid at school, we encourage a trusted adult to accompany your camper at camp.
