I haven't gotten my non-beta software in the mail, but everything worked fine with the pre-release software. SProdigy , Mar 9, Is there any discount on upgrading to Nero 7x if i already have my serial number to my old xp nero 6x version?. Im just trying to save some money. Is there another scenario i can use with Vista. I have anydvd already. If you use Vista you have to upgrade to the latest version of Nero for it to work. Image burn? Ive never used Img burn to burn an encoded dvd. Is it pretty straight fwd? Any good threads off to show step by step? I updated Nero to the newest version, then reinstalled DVD Shrink, and then after that it worked perfectly. Anyone else having problems with dvd shrink should definitely try this. So I'll get and try nero 7 then. Mike do you have some links on using RipIt4me? This article will guide you through the process of cleaning your hard disk and shrinking your disk volume to create space for a new disk partition on a Windows Vista system.
The best way to partition a hard disk is to create disk partitions before you install the operating system. This application is very similar to the Disk Management utility that we know from Windows XP, but with changes in the way Vista manages system data, you will need to perform some cleanup operations on your hard disk before proceeding to shrink a volume.
In the Disk Management utility, you can "Right-Click" on a disk partition and select the "Shrink Volume" option from the context menu. This feature will review the available disk space and then allow you to specify the amount to "Shrink" on the volume. In most cases, the amount allowed to "Shrink" is minimal, which is due to system files on your hard disk that are locked in position and restricting the Shrink feature from giving you more available space.
There is a great article found here that can give you more information on this issue, and a common MFT file issue that may require some attention. Another big advantage of DVD Shrink is that it is freeware, which makes this program an ideal option for those who don't want to spend cash. In the absence of the latter, DVD burning cannot be done.
DVD Shrink is outdated at times and does not work well with newer operating systems. Also, because it hasn't been updated, DVD Shrink may not be able to unlock some of the newer encryption formats. Some other problems that have been reported with DVD Shrink are error reading a file, facing audio issues, problems with burning the DVDs, loss of quality when copied, amongst many others.
However, Handbrake offers a lot more different choices in converting the original DVD, as well as format to watch it easily on the computer. ISO file, while Handbrake lets you choose from a number of file formats. However, it has not been updated since and faces compatibility issues with the new operating systems.
The programme also faces issues with reading files or unlocking some of the new encryptions. This fact can make the programme useless at times. So with that in mind, your data is in your hands and you might want to do a data backup first. Microsoft hasn't placed the act of resizing a partition under a glaring spotlight for a reason. If the average user were to get their fingers on these tools, they could do some real, and irreversible, damage.
Fortunately, you are not the average user. If you want to expand a partition, there is a Wizard to walk you through that process. Click on the Expand entry in the right-click menu and the Wizard will start. It has been a long time coming to have on-the-fly partition resizing. This is one of the best features of Windows Vista.
