It crashes right ater the windows logo is done animating, BSOD non descriptive, 4 hex codes. I was in the middle of RC setup and it wasn't booting into setup until I dissabled speed step, luckily I got in and setup completed.
I tried re-enabling it after installation but it still caused the crash. I would definitely like to be able to use this processor feature on my latptop to save batery power. Perhaps I just need to install the correct CPU driver from intel or something or upgrade a driver to get it booting when speed step is on unless its some other issue. Win7 RC looks great! Ok, when i disabled the speedstep function from BIOS it reduced my clock speed to 83 mhz Any other suggestions? It sounds like something that would require one. Set the power option to "always on" in windows xp for the full 1. I would think Dell would supply you with the software, or it would be on their site to download. For me, I run a toshiba laptop and the setting is in the Power Management Console that is given by Toshiba.
Look for something in this respect for your Dell laptop Doesn't look like Dell supplies such a power management program.
