Is this an easy repair? I will post some photos if anyone is interested in helping me out. While using this device: It was powered on for no longer than hours per use.

I never switched it on and off quickly. Join Date Nov Location santa fe, nm Posts 1,, Originally Posted by Ghoffman. Hey Goffman, Welcome to PL. Yes, as Swami said, the diode is a fairly easy swap and relatively inexpensive. I would NOT attempt to increase the power though. Not only will that potentially require changing more that just the diode driver, mounts, power supply , it's already an illegal and unsafe laser.

Granted, they can be had on eBay left and right but, that does not make them legal or safe to use in the US. The patterns and cheap stepper motors make it almost impossible not to be sending hot beams into an audience unless you're masking out the lower half of the 4 openings to prevent it.

Now, is there really a chance of eye injury? In all likelyhood probably not but, that chance exists nonetheless and, you are in a very "laser aware" state. Do you realize you should be registering it with the state of Texas and actually be paying a fee for each of the four lasers inside that box?

Any time he uses his for events in my venue, I've made him do something to prevent those beams hitting the people on the dance floor. They're a cool effect laying on their back and shooting almost straight up to the ceiling though.

Behind a drummer or band, they look pretty good. I absolutely do not project at eye level I use 9ft minimum height. I am aware of the registration and I'm in the process of obtaining the proper credentials. I operate this device in an extremely safe manner and take all necessary precautions regarding safety.

Quote from: James on February 03, , pm. Well your right about the mirror I do need a front surface mirror so thanks for the tip! I may have to buy a replacement any ideas where I can get replacement parts? This laser uses 20kpps stepper motors so fine tuning it is a mission. It was in parts when I got it.

When the laser is powered it does a basic calibration to get its current position, each stepper motor x and y reverses until it hits a small lever thats sort of adjustable but 1mm left or right makes a huge difference in laser position and I can never get it aligned fine enough mirror holder has a screw on it which hits the lever on the stepper motor holder.

I'm from Wellington New Zealand not Aussie but u were close! That's what I said! I had a look at the pictures. No wonder you're having a hard time aligning that thing! It's all stamped steel! Looks like the only way to get elevation on the green shown in pic 7 would be to bend the bottom corner of the chassis. Not much fine adjustment room there! Maybe I will just use it for parts, wonder what interesting projects I can do with 2 red lasers and one green - total output is mW so not great!

I'm just being a jerk. Noo as in New Not all American are so weird. It looks like it all works. If you really wanted to fix it, you could put some thought into making better adjustable mirror mounts. Four scannners in one box is pretty impressive!

It's like What kind of control input does it have? Can you actually drive the X and Y inputs on each head? Ha Ha, I don't want to mess with u Americans, u might blast me with ur Star Wars Satellite laser system or is it that B52 project that I should be scared of? I can control x and y but lasers are paired to move at the same time, not individually.

There was supposed to be a mix happening to make yellow but its impossible to make a straight line to mix the red and green!

How would u mod the frame to make it precise? It appears to set itself up to fail in that regards! Gadget glad I could help a little. I'm sure there is a way to make this thing work. We love a challenge.

We are masters of taking something that is meant for one thing and making it do something completely different. Right James James I'll try to get set up on Skype. No promisses I'll use it very often though. I think if I had that unit, I'd keep working on it to make it better. Since it is made of stamped steel and there are no fine screw type adjustments, I wonder how the manufacturer aligned it in the first place?

This unit is made to hang from the ceiling, correct? Does the alignment change when it's sitting on a table vs. Looks like you can hang it or you can leave it on a table as it has several rubber feet on the bottom. I guess aligning the thing on the table will more or less the same when hanging.

I cant see how they aligned when the made it either! I think they probably align these much the same way they align car doors when they put them on at the factory.

They know where to put a hunk of palette wood in the frame and they slam the door on it a few times until it warps the steal frame into shape. I have one of the DL's minus the laser modules Its not to hard to align them and yes it has to do with the mirrors.
